Children of all ages love sugar, and especially when it comes in the form of small candies they can pop in their mouth. As a child I eagerly awaited the next holiday, event or party that would graciously present candy. I had a clear map of how far apart each opportunity was, and how long I could make my supply last. And sometimes I would give in and eat as much as I could get my hands on. Kids all over suffer from post Halloween tummy aches, due to not realizing there can in fact be a limit to how much chocolate and suckers their tiny little stomachs can hold. Young children especially do not realize that too much of a good thing can be harmful.
“All things in moderation” can apply to many facets of our lives, and on a more serious note, especially with prescription drugs. The abuse of prescription drugs has become an increasing epidemic across Oregon. Oregon Health Authority reports that; “In the last ten years, there has been a 450 percent increase in the number of deaths from prescription drug overdoses. Currently in Oregon, there are more deaths per year from prescription drug overdoses than there are from automobile accidents.” Our rate of drug-induced deaths exceeds the national average. To change this number, Coastline Foot and Ankle is joining the fight against addiction and death due to prescription narcotic abuse. With the patient in mind, our hope is to see you restored as quickly as possible to function, with minimal reliance upon prescription medications.
